The organ of the Obafemi Awolowo University Medical Students’ Association (IFUMSA) MediVoice News and Literary Club that is responsible for delivering literary content and reports on the activities and events is the MediVoice News and Literary Club. The election of the 2025 Editorial Year executive kicked the ball rolling for the editorial year. About eight members of the club were elected as new executives. They are to serve the club in different capacities. These individuals brought fresh energy to the club.
After the election, several physical club meetings were held every two Sundays, which ensured that the bond among MediVoice members grew stronger and the wheels of the club’s activities kept moving. We meet to ensure, first of all, that projects stay on track and that every member feels a sense of belonging in the club (to participate in decision-making actively), just as it is the culture of the club. During one of these meetings, we held a send-off ceremony for the part 6 members (now doctors and alumni) of the club who had contributed significantly to the club’s activities. It was one of the year’s highlights.
Additionally, the club began selling the Caduceus X magazine in PDF format online. The magazine featured exclusive articles, poems, interviews, and wordplay. The Caduceus Magazines, like blood to the body, pour life into the club, reflecting the talents and diligence of our editorial team. Following this, the club has also begun preparing for the Caduceus XI Magazine, which will be launched soon. The MediVoice club has maintained its strong online presence through various blog articles. Featured articles this year include the Sunday “this week” post, Opinion post, Wednesday News, and Vox-Pops. These articles were written to stir up, in the minds of our readers, the water of creativity and literacy in a fun way. To add a touch of linguistic engagement, Word of the Week and Word Extra posts were also sent out every Friday. These posts aim to enhance members’ vocabulary.
Moreover, we launched the MediVoice Board Advert Initiative, which allows members of IFUMSA to run their adverts on the MediVoice Board for a token. Not long after, we conducted a recruitment process. The process attracted a fresh cohort of students who are eager to contribute to the club’s mission. The new members rotated through the three sections of the club and passed through a three-month probationary period before being fully inducted into the club.
However, the recruitment process also faced the layoff of some club members. Certain members requested to be exempted from the club due to various reasons that would inevitably lead to a lack of commitment to the club’s activities. The club granted these members their requests but upon careful consideration. Also, they were reminded that they are still part of the family and that the club is always ready to welcome them again. Upon reflection, the achievements of 2025 would not have been possible without the members of the club. Therefore, we appreciate all members of the club who kept things moving. Additionally, we appreciate the support of the BIG IFUMSA executives this year. Finally, we appreciate our readers who have supported our work.
Editor-In-Chief,
